EMILY MORRISON, LAc, MAOM
Emily is the founder and director of Valley Spirit Wellness Center in Beacon, NY—home to Valley Spirit Acupuncture & Internal Arts, her private practice, as well as a collaborative space for holistic care, classes, and seasonal events. With over 20 years of experience in bodywork, Chinese medicine, and internal martial arts, Emily’s work is rooted in a deep commitment to personal healing and collective well-being.
Her path began at age 18, when her first martial arts teacher encouraged her to explore the healing arts. That early training opened the door to a lifelong dedication to holistic medicine. She began her career in bodywork after graduating from the Florida School of Massage in 2005 and went on to earn her Master’s degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in 2015. She is licensed to practice in New York State.
From 2008 to 2023, Emily trained extensively with the North American Tang Shou Tao Association (NATSTA), studying internal martial arts, classical Chinese medicine, and lineage-based bodywork. She is a certified instructor in Shenlong Xingyiquan and Li Ding Jingluo Qigong, and a practitioner of Jin Shou Tuina™. In 2016, she was formally accepted as a Disciple of NATSTA founder Dr. Vince Black. Her training also includes craniosacral therapy, Thai massage, shiatsu, herbal medicine, medical qigong, and Chinese nutritional therapy.
Emily approaches each session as a collaboration, considering herself not a healer, but a co-facilitator in her patients’ own healing process. She crafts individualized treatments that honor the body’s rhythms and draws from a wide range of modalities rooted in Chinese medicine and nature-based wisdom. Her mission is to help people reconnect with their innate capacity to heal—and in doing so, support the health of the larger whole.
Emily lives in Beacon with her two children, Ronan and Kiley, and is active in the local homeschool community. She finds joy in nature, painting, reading, cooking, dancing, and traveling.
